We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join a reputable non-profit organization in Oakland, California.
This Contract-to-hire position offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while showcasing your extensive non-profit accounting and leadership expertise. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit accounting and a proven ability to manage accounting teams and various financial tasks with precision.
This role will become hybrid after an initial onsite training period. Work will be performed onsite in Oakland, California.
Responsibilities :
- Monitor and manage revenue contracts and grants, including customer invoicing and documentation preparation.
- Track daily cash transactions and bank balances, providing weekly cash flow and disbursement updates to senior financial staff.
- Handle banking activities, including processing stop payments, making deposits, and creating wire transactions for approval.
- Reconcile bank statements against organizational records, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
- Prepare and manage invoices, billing, and receivable journal entries for various revenue streams such as grants and medical billing.
- Oversee collections and revenue recovery efforts, including funds drawdowns, reconciliations, and cost reimbursements.
- Create detailed financial reports for specific funding sources, programs, and departments, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Set up and maintain new bank accounts, ensuring appropriate access levels are granted and approved.
- Assist with additional non-profit specific accounting and financial tasks as assigned, ensuring adherence to organizational policies.
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably within a non-profit organization.
- Proficiency in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in billing functions and account reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of grant and fund accounting specific to non-profits.
- Familiarity with GAAP accounting principles and their application in non-profit settings.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills to ensure effective financial reporting.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
