Position Summary
Responsible for new product design and development from concept through implementation into production with a firm understanding of aerospace quality requirements and design principles. Focus on new product design engineering and improvements in engineering best practices while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Develop and recommend solutions to well-defined engineering requirements for complex products or systems, ensuring design objectives are met and applying engineering principles across mechanical, electrical, chemical, and other domains.
Essential Functions
- Lead an aerospace program from concept through the entire product lifecycle.
- Develop detailed product specifications by analyzing performance and customer requirements, investigating design factors such as function, materials, cost, and contractual requirements.
- Perform feasibility and trade studies using standard analytical methods; recommend solutions that are defined and reviewed for implementation.
- Interpret and validate test results for accuracy and precision; ensure conformance to product qualification procedures and parameters to achieve customer and product reliability and safety standards.
- Provide technical information for review with product engineering teams and management using established engineering practices, standards, and documentation methods, and maintain proper documentation for procedures, reports, specifications, and approvals.
- Contribute to project milestones by creating functional diagrams, system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, data structures, interfaces, programming logic, material requirements, and customer data item requirements.
- Review product specifications to ensure clarity, completeness, form, fit, function, and conformity to standards and procedures; identify design errors and recommend revisions, engineering change orders, and improvements.
- Maintain current professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in professional associations.
- Share specialized knowledge with others, assist in mentoring new employees, and represent the company on specific projects or engineering tasks at internal and external events.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or Professional Engineer (PE) certificate in an engineering or science technical discipline.Ability to perform essential functions typically acquired through 2–3 years of related experience.Working knowledge of engineering domain principles and techniques, product functionality, industry practices, regulations, and policies; general knowledge of related engineering and technical areas.Proficient with engineering design and analysis tools (e.g., computer-aided design or modeling systems); ability to use standard software packages and specialized software applications or languages.Collaborative team player applying judgment in selecting procedures and techniques that should be applied to achieve project and team goals.Effective communicator of status, actions, recommendations, and technical information with clarity and precision; responsive to inquiries from engineering and business teams.Typical Mental and Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, use hands to operate a computer, talk or hear, stand and walk occasionally, and meet close vision requirements. Regular attendance, cooperation, and professional teamwork are expected, and the employee must manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
