This is a full-time, Non-Represented role. The salary grade for this posting is 4028. The salary range is $86,025 to $111,454. Please note that the final salary will be determined by our Classification and Compensation team after reviewing the candidate's experience and considering our internal salary equity.

Job Summary : Establishes accountability for energy consumption at every level in the School District and develops and monitors the District's energy management program in accordance with the District's Sustainability Plan, GreenFutures. The Energy Manager identifies and implements strategies that reduce spending on energy so that funds can be used for education; instills a culture of energy conservation throughout the District; and reduces the environmental and human health impacts associated with fossil fuel combustion.

Essential Functions :

Establishes a program to promote energy conservation through positive feedback to all levels of the District and involves all personnel and students in taking ownership of the program's success.

Audits all energy and water consumption records and data and provides regular communication with principals and custodial staff regarding their building's energy consumption.

Prepares energy usage and budgets for all District facilities and develops procedures for efficient utilization of energy sources.

Conducts needs assessments, provides awareness activities and delivers or coordinates professional development training to assist the District with curriculum revision or program implementation.

Creates and oversees schedules to ensure compliance of all buildings with District policies and City mandates.

Maintains records of federal energy conservation grants received by the District.

Coordinates usage of facilities and ensures proper space utilization consistent with energy conservation.

Works with the District's Building Engineers to ensure efficient energy usage by custodial staff during summer work programs.

Assists with the design and maintenance of the programming for computerized energy management systems to ensure operating efficiency and updates programs as necessary.

Advises, assists, and makes recommendations to the Superintendent and other executives on alternative energy sources, consumption, and general energy conservation measures.

Provides input on contractual support activities (capital projects) related to energy management and the purchase of any products that affect energy consumption.

Supports and participates in the implementation of the District's Strategic Plan.

Manages subcontractors to develop, plan, and implement energy conservation and savings.

Serves as the District representative at management-level meetings, seminars, and conferences relating to energy use and conservation.

Develops and maintains contact with federal and state agencies and monitors state and national energy policy trends.

Attends training sessions, conferences, and workshops to keep abreast of current practices, programs, and legal issues.

Minimum Requirements :

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in energy management, science, engineering, business, education or a related field.

Five years of full-time, paid, professional experience in energy or utility management, environmental science or engineering which has involved developing and implementing the energy management program; analyzing the infrastructure to implement effective energy and sustainability practices as well as developing and managing energy conservation programs and energy budgets for a large school district or organization, at least two of which have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.

Must be a Professional Engineer (PE) or a Certified Energy Manager (CEM).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Demonstrated knowledge of :

o energy management methods and techniques used in effective program planning, design and administration.

o energy efficiency principles.

o computer-based energy management control and monitoring systems.

o energy codes and standards and local, state and federal environmental regulations.

o energy and sustainability best practices.

o processes and procedures related to school districts or governmental entities.

Demonstrated ability to :

o develop, implement and monitor the Districts energy management program.

o use various computer software such as Energy Management Software and Microsoft Suite.

o analyze energy efficiency and make recommendations for modifications as needed.

o reduce utility consumption, verify utility rate structure, and identify renewable energy opportunities throughout the District.

o analyze organizational and procedural problems and make recommendations for improvements.

o communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

o establish and maintain effective working relationships.
