Job Summary
Assists in the administration, operation, and maintenance of HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, air-handling systems, Central Plant equipment, and other electro-mechanical systems located throughout the Medical Center. Works under the supervision of the Director of Plant Operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Plant Operations in planning, organizing, and controlling activities of the HVAC Shop.
- Maintain flow and quality of work to ensure accurate completion of workload and adherence to quality standards.
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of department records in compliance with The Joint Commission, Department of Health Standards, local authorities, and other regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate construction and renovation programs for the facility in collaboration with the Director of Plant Operations.
- Operate plant HVAC equipment efficiently and safely.
- Maintain working knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary functions; supervise other Crothall and Mount Sinai managers and employees including supervisors, shop coordinators, and bargaining unit staff.
- Monitor and inspect employee performance to ensure standards are met; resolve complaints, report, and seek guidance from the Director of Plant Operations as needed.
- Orient and train new employees; provide ongoing guidance and on-the-job training to all assigned personnel.
- Assist with the department's Quality Control Program.
- Review and write specifications for corrective maintenance and minor construction / renovation projects.
- Monitor and coordinate preventative maintenance and building repairs performed by vendors and contractors; inspect completed work and approve payment requests as applicable.
- Perform departmental and related duties as required.
Qualifications
Associate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of HVAC-related experience in healthcare, or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.Customer service and interpersonal skills.Problem-solving skills and analytical abilities (computer skills).Supervisory skills and financial foresight.Presentation, team-building, and coaching abilities.Requisite licenses or certifications as applicable; NYC Refrigeration License is highly desirable and ability to obtain NYCFD C of F G-60, F-60, and G-79 may be required.Proficiency in Building Management Systems; ability to operate HVAC and Refrigeration equipment.Associate Degree preferred with minimum two years of HVAC experience in a hospital setting.Benefits
