Salary Range $90,000.00 - $165,750.00
Overview
The Business Operations team supporting the Vice Provost for Research (VPR) portfolio is seeking an experienced business operations professional to join our group. Our team supports a diverse portfolio of twenty (20) distinct units including central research support units, research cores, centers, and institutes, comprising approximately 300 FTEs and a combined $85M annual operating and capital budget. This role is ideal for a collaborative and service-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The successful candidate will bring a strong working knowledge of Yale's business policies, procedures, and systems, and will demonstrate the ability to quickly assess and respond to evolving customer needs and priorities. Exceptional organizational, analytical, and customer service skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing demands for time with professionalism and efficiency.
Reporting to the Lead Administrator, this hybrid position provides comprehensive business operations support, including financial reporting and analysis across general appropriations, unrestricted, and gift funds. The Operations Manager will serve as a key partner to faculty and staff across the VPR portfolio, contributing to the advancement of Yale's research mission through thoughtful, proactive, and solutions-oriented support.
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency with the Yale Budgeting Tool. Ability to manage multiple labor and financial plans.
Proficiency in Workday HCM and Financials. Well versed in both WD HCM and Financials processes, workflow, and reporting. Has the ability to adapt quickly and become expert in frequently changing business environments and conditions. Has the ability to train and subsequently coach users in essential tasks, e.g., initiating purchase orders and expense reporting.
Strong computer skills including an excellent command of Excel. Ability to manipulate downloaded data to produce meaningful reports, highlighting budget to actual variance and trends. Well-developed analytical and quantitative skill.
Ability to adapt and thrive in a changing environment, accepting new roles and meeting challenges as they may come.
A reliable collaborator with the skills and ability to resolve issues independently and timely while meeting often competing demands for time. Maintains a commitment to delivering a high-level of customer service to all stakeholders.
Principal Responsibilities
Required Education and Experience Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and five years of related work experience including demonstrated leadership, project management and / or supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
