About the Role :
The DSP 1 (Direct Support Professional Level 1) provides entry-level support to individuals with developmental disabilities in My Life LLC's day services program. This role assists participants in daily living activities, implements ISP goals, and helps promote independence, dignity, and community inclusion. The DSP 1 documents services in compliance with DHHS DD regulations and agency policy and works under close supervision to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all participants.
Minimum Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required by the position).
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings as required by law and agency policy.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety standards related to caregiving.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
Previous experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or similar populations.Certification in CPR and First Aid, Mandt and current Nebraska Medication Aide license.Training or coursework in behavioral support.Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Bilingual skills or additional language proficiency.Responsibilities :
Follow all DHHS DD regulations, agency policies, and supervisor direction.Provide direct assistance with activities of daily living (personal care, meals, mobility, medication reminders).Implement ISP goals and document services in Therap accurately and timely.Encourage social, recreational, and educational activities to support community participation.Monitor participant health, safety, and well-being and report concerns to supervisors.Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment consistent with participant rights.Skills :
Empathy and effective communication to build trust with participants.Organization and attention to detail for schedules and documentation.Adaptability and problem-solving skills to handle unexpected situations safely.Reliability and professionalism in meeting participant and program needs.Working hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm.
