The General Ledger (GL) Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger and financial statements. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.

Prepare and post journal entries for various transactions, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.

Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.

Prepare financial statements and reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.

Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.

Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper accounting and reporting of financial transactions.

Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required or Bachelor's degree in Finance with 10 years of GL experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS) and financial reporting standards.

Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enables the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enables interpersonal communication and communication through automated devices like the telephone.

Employees who drive company vehicles must possess a valid and appropriate driver’s license for driving the vehicle, and employees who operate company equipment must be trained and authorized.

Employees operating company vehicles and equipment must comply with state and federal laws and regulations. Seat belt use is required while operating any company vehicle or equipment.

Texting while driving is prohibited by Dobson Fiber policy and State Law.

Participate in safety committee meetings, training sessions, and surveys as requested and provide input into improving safety.

Notify your supervisor or Human Resources immediately of any change in physical or mental condition or use of prescription drugs or illegal drugs that would affect the employee’s job performance or the safety of him / herself or others.

Working under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited at any company facility, workplace, worksite, or when operating any company vehicle or equipment. Any employee, contractor, or subcontractor who works or reports to work under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs will be subject to disciplinary action, including possible termination of employment or loss of contract.

Notify the Human Resources Director within five days of serious driving, drug / alcohol, or criminal convictions.

Be a safe worker on and off the job.

Help coworkers do their job safely.
