This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes. Candidates must have experience with purchasing, vendor bidding (RFQs), and supply chain coordination within a technical operations environment. Key Responsibilities Issue, update, and monitor purchase orders to ensure data accuracy and on-time reporting. Communicate with vendors via email and phone to obtain delivery dates, pricing, and resolve supply issues. Proactively address delivery delays by coordinating with suppliers to maintain project schedules. Manage and organize supplier quote packages, bids, and returned documentation. Monitor the Purchasing group mailbox and update ERP systems accordingly. Collaborate with internal departments including Receiving, Engineering, Production, Performance Excellence, and Accounts Payable. Document and update procurement work processes and procedures. Ensure adherence to safety standards and promote a culture of accountability and teamwork. Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a technical or manufacturing environment. 3+ years of RFQ process and vendor competitive bidding experience. Understanding of part fabrication processes such as Milling, Lathe, and Laser Sheet Metal fabrication. Experience with ERP systems such as JDE or SAP (material management or production planning). Proficiency in MS 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret Mechanical Technical Drawings. Customer service and teamwork mindset. Preferred Qualifications : Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables). Demand forecasting experience. 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting. 3+ years of vendor management or strategic sourcing experience. Some college coursework or higher education preferred. Strong negotiation and influential communication skills. Physical & Work Environment : Office and manufacturing environment exposure. Mostly sedentary work with occasional standing / walking for up to 6+ hours. Light to moderate noise levels. Use of personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes) when required. Performance Metrics : On-time delivery of packaging machinery and components. Vendor cost savings and sourcing efficiency. Accuracy and timeliness of procurement documentation. Compliance with safety and quality standards.
