Assistant Controller - Power
Reporting directly to the Controller, responsible for the establishment and maintenance of standards, procedures and processes across for PSEG Power and Other to ensure the timely and accurate supply of high-quality financial information, enabling senior management to run their business effectively while meeting all external and internal reporting requirements. Also, will execute on ad hoc requests from the Controller. This role is currently only considering PSEG employees.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the proper execution of financial processing and reporting, including the content, presentation, and internal customer interfaces. Direct specific activities related to development and maintenance of financial performance reporting for PSEG Power and Other as well as support financial applications including the general ledger and fixed assets (PowerPlan) as they relate to PSEG Power and Other.
- Work closely with Directors and Managers on all aspects of the closing and reporting process and on all accounting issues impacting the businesses they are responsible for.
- Ensure the timely and effective implementation of financial and management reporting requirements from senior management, business units, external stakeholders, and regulators.
- Take leadership role in identifying, tailoring, and defining emerging accounting issues into policies and procedures primarily for PSEG Power but could impact other businesses as well. Also, provide guidance including working with the external auditors or other firms for accounting related issues that arise in various development projects.
- Manage the appropriate resolution of issues raised by internal and external auditors, risk management, and other parties as they relate to financial controls and compliance and issues within PSEG Power and Other.
- Provide functional leadership as part of the controller community to continuously improve financial and management reporting and the development of personnel.
Job Specific Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or financeMinimum of 10 years' experience in an accounting / business controllership roleMinimum of 3 years' experience as a Director or Senior ManagerStrong GAAP experience including an understanding and experience with applicable accounting guidance (FAS 133, Revenue Recognition, etc.). Able to identify and define emerging accounting issues and manage from identification to implementing resolution.Strong analytical skills and attention to detailsExperience in the energy industryStrong interpersonal skills : ability to manage a team, build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work constructively within a team environmentExcellent organization and communication skills with all levels of managementAbility to support multiple tasks, initiatives and projects simultaneouslyStrong team leadership and management skillsDesired :
