The Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty is a leading international educational organization located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Acton Institute is seeking a Staff Accountant to coordinate the below objectives :
Accounts Payable – perform and oversee activities including :
- Process and review daily Concur / Divvy Invoice submissions, coding, and approvals
- Process and review staff reimbursements and credit card charges submitted through Concur Expense
- Coordinate payments processed through Bill and Concur Expense
- Transfer of Concur data to General Ledger system
- Preparation and annual e-filing of Forms 1099-MISC
- Work with Acton conference planners to coordinate, account for, and process payments for reimbursements, grants and honorariums.
Acton Book Shop
Monitor daily orders and process within accounting systemProcess invoices and payments for orders on accountCommunicate with customersMaintain inventory stock levels and place replenishing ordersMonitor and reconcile inventoryGeneral Ledger
Maintain data integration between GL system (Sage Intacct) and AP / Expense platform (Concur Expense, Bill)Assist with annual budget process and monthly budget meetingsCoordinate and monitor month end closing process including :Cutoffs
ReconciliationsDepreciation / Fixed assets updatesCost of goods sold for Acton BookShopPrepaid expense recognitionPostageRome office and affiliatesFile monthly / annual sales tax report
Qualifications :
Support of Acton Institute’s mission and ideasBachelor’s degree in Accounting2 years’ accounting experience, preferably non-profitProgress toward Masters or CPA preferredKnowledge of GAAPStrong skills in spreadsheet and word processing applicationsAttention to detail and management of deadlinesGood communication skills and problem solving abilitiesAbility to work with all levels of employeesAbility to keep financial data confidentialThis position has the potential to grow into the Manager of Accounting position
The role requires :
