Immigration Legal Assistant

Overview

The managing partner of a small immigration law firm in downtown Boston is looking for a fully bilingual (English / Spanish) legal assistant who is equally committed to justice and getting the details right in our asylum, family visa, and deportation defense cases with an emphasis on people over profits and empathy over efficiency.

Our ideal candidate would have some immigration law experience—or at least have worked in a law office before—but we are willing to train the right person so long as they are coming in with some kind of professional experience, an enthusiasm for learning and serving the needs of our diverse client base (both documented and undocumented), and a demonstrated commitment to immigrant and social justice.

Responsibilities

• Support cases in immigration matters including asylum, family visa, and deportation defense with attention to detail and client-centered service.

Qualifications

Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and spoken).

Experience in immigration law preferred, or prior experience working in a law office.

Willingness to be trained for the role and bring some professional experience, enthusiasm for learning, and commitment to serving a diverse client base.

Demonstrated commitment to immigrant and social justice.
