Job Summary :
We are currently seeking a Quality Inspector II to support our Applied Science and Technology group, where
Responsibilities :
" Performs inspection of complex fabricated parts using hand tools such as calipers, height gages, tape measures, micrometers, and angle gauges.
" Inspects welded parts to defined quality standards.
" Reports on any trends to quality engineering to ensure containment and may recommend corrective measures to address these issues.
" Performs in-process and final visual and functional inspections of products to defined criteria.
" Supports quality engineering in investigating supplier and assembly issues and may recommend corrective measures.
" Records and recommends preliminary disposition of nonconforming material in an electronic system.
" Identifies and helps to support implementation of improvements to safety, efficiency, and quality.
" With input from engineering, develops inspection instructions for complex fabricated parts and assemblies.
" Ability to work under general guidance from management.
" Maintain inspection records for review.
" Mentors other QA staff in inspection techniques and procedures
" Supports other activities such as the calibration program, internal audits, or safety program.
Key Qualifications :
" Associate degree in engineering or related technical field or an equivalent combination of education and / or experience in a related field.
" Minimum of 5 years' experience with quality inspection of complex fabricated parts.
" Demonstrated ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings, inspection procedures, and work instructions.
" Working knowledge and understanding of measurement methodologies and techniques.
" Ability to use fixtures and measurement tools to set up parts and perform inspections.
" Use of an electronic enterprise resource planning system to transact materials into and out of Quality and research inquiries regarding part status.
" Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
" Attention to detail.
" Excellent oral and written communication skills.
" Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a US government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications :
" Prior experience working under ISO 9001 : 2015 quality production environment.
" Experience working within the US military or US defense contractor environment.
" Experience and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT).
" ASQ Certified Quality Inspector.
" Experience with using a FARO arm to perform inspections.
