Compensation information is provided below with ranges for each level; actual offers are based on qualifications, skills, experience, and location.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring, supporting, and improving the applications used by Reliability, Tariff, Scheduling, Balancing, and Market Operators. Ensure all systems and processes use correct input data and produce accurate results for Operators.
• Identify needed ICCP data to maintain superior real-time monitoring and state estimator results.
• Work with Members to obtain all necessary Reliability and Market related changes as they pertain to operational models used in EMS.
• Assist in testing and implementing software changes for Operations-based applications such as EMS, ICCP, and MOS.
• Support analysis of normal / abnormal events and recommend changes to processes / software.
• Support, develop, and improve Operations applications such as Real Time Contingency Analysis, Load Forecast, Market Flow calculator, Market System, and Constraint Manager.
• Research, document, and report issues from SPP Staff, Members, non-Members, and Market Participants related to system results.
• Prepare and validate data, execute computer runs for current and next-day operational assessments of the transmission network, including reliability and market feasibility analyses.
• Coordinate and approve generation and transmission maintenance outage requests (including emergency / forced outages).
• Continuously monitor market and reliability systems and take actions as necessary to maintain accuracy and reliability.
• Respond quickly to unexpected events such as sudden loading changes, data feed issues, or data exchange interruptions.
• Develop and update SPP network model data for near-real-time analysis.
• Make recommendations to management on long-range coordinated operations goals and objectives.
• Adhere to SPP Policies and Procedures and communicate with members, consultants, and participants about ongoing activities.
• Assist the Manager, Operations Engineering and other Engineers on special projects; coach and mentor other Engineers; collaborate with Operations Quality Assurance on training and documentation.
• Develop and test existing and new Operation Situational Awareness tools; ensure timely training for personnel.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for shift engineer processes and provide leadership in the operations engineering group.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical and project-management level decisions; balance standard and non-standard techniques; align work with SPP Culture Drivers, Mission, and Core Values.

Full-time, with rotating shift schedules and long hours.
