Medical Physician

SUMMARY : A Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) who specializes in family medicine. The MD / DO will serve patients of all ages, providing comprehensive care for a variety of conditions. The physician will be expected to provide preventive care and manage chronic / complex conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and / or RESPONSIBLITIES include the following :

• Responsible for the practice of medicine or direct service to patients involving the performance of diagnostic, preventative or therapeutic services to patients in clinics.
• Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination and other specialized medical care to treat, prevent illness, disease or injury.
• Order, perform and interpret tests and analyze records, reports and examination information to diagnose patient's condition.
• Collect, record, and maintain patient information such as medical history, reports and examination results.
• Experience with electronic health records is preferred.
• Monitor patient's conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
• Explain procedures and discuss tests results or prescribed treatments as necessary.
• Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
• Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.
• Coordinate work with nurses, pharmacists, social workers and other allied health professionals in the provision of a variety of health services.
• Other duties may be assigned.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION : Per Carl T. Curtis Health Education Center policy, selectees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entry on duty or have an approved medical or religious exemption. If an exemption is approved then wearing a face mask is required. Regular testing for COVID-19 will be required for staff working at the health centers. Your Human Resources Specialist will provide a list of documents acceptable as vaccination proof and instructions for submitting a request for a legally required exception, if needed.
