Project Summary / Overview
KPMG's implementation of the Navy's Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Sea Services Security Assistance Logistics and Execution (S3ALE) system requires a Cloud Engineering resource. This role emphasizes overseeing the DevSecOps processes essential for S3ALE in an IL4 production AWS cloud environment. Will focus on supporting automated installation, testing, and deployment processes, ensuring the infrastructure is cost-efficient, secure, and scalable while meeting project demands. Additionally, this role involves maintaining delivery efficiency through continuous integration and deployment services, while collaborating with cybersecurity teams to uphold high standards of system security and performance aligned with each approved release.
Responsibilities for Position
Serve as a seasoned key advisor across our client base to drive the architecture and design of modern solutions for strategic business and technology objectives, typically tied to growth or optimization at the enterprise or business unit level
Act as a primary team interface with client executives (e.g., Chief Technology, Information, Data, and Digital Officers)
Produce conceptual and logical architecture blueprints that connect user value chains, process flows, applications, data schemas, integrations, and overall IT capabilities; articulate how these capabilities should reside and operate together (infrastructure, hardware, software, cloud, data warehouse, delivery)
Collaborate with engagement delivery teams on transformation initiatives and technology strategy, leveraging next-gen ecosystems such as open source, APIs, micro-services, web, and data services
Contribute to build vs. buy decisions and overall technical / operational solutions as tied to business and technology objectives
Advise on top technology trends, vendor capabilities, and usage rates; foster a culture of learning and innovation for both clients and internal teams
Qualifications for Position
Experience in a client-facing strategy or industry delivery role at a major strategy firm, systems integrator, or Big 4 firm.
Experience with DevOps, systems administration, or equivalent distributed systems development experience in a cloud-hosted environment, including managing associated cybersecurity requirements.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Computer Science, or a related field (or relevant work experience); Master's degree is preferred.
Hands-on experience designing and delivering large-scale IT change, including architecture governance, designing distributed systems, developing technology roadmaps, and performing current state architecture assessments; comfortable balancing strategic vision with tactical delivery.
In-depth exposure to cloud architectures using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and container technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker; proficiency in Unix / Linux environments and source code management systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
Experience with CI / CD and automation using tools like Jenkins (pipeline-as-code with Groovy), GitLab CI / CD, and automated testing (SCAP, FitNesse, jMeter), including multi-environment deployment pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
Knowledge of networking, identity management, monitoring, logging, and vulnerability management; experience with shift-left security practices, security controls, authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., PKI), and hardening infrastructures / systems.
Experience with on-premise and cloud software / systems architecture, including containers, container orchestration, API gateway / service mesh patterns, and functions-as-a-service; familiarity with SRE practices and hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, VPC, IAM, Secrets Manager, CloudFormation, SNS, S3);
