Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Unit Secretary in the Comprehensive Rehab unit. Here, you will act as a central information source for physicians and other health care professionals. Our Unit Secretary's pride themselves on always maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Under the leadership of the Manager, you will provide clerical support to assist in the delivery of quality care to patients. This involves clerical support activities which will facilitate the Patient Care Center operations including transcription, processing of physician orders, serves as a reception agent for all patients / family members, physician, patient care team members, other healthcare team members, and facilitates the channeling of information to appropriate points of service timely and accurately. Demonstrates necessary skills and knowledge to provide services for patients according to unit specific competencies as appropriate to the age of the patient served as delineated in the Center's Scope of Care.

• Demonstrates knowledge of proper telephone function and proper telephone etiquette
• Screens and coordinates incoming and outgoing calls including recording and reporting pages and messages
• Answers call lights promptly, communicates patient needs to appropriate personnel, and follow up on patient requests to ensure response
• Transcribes medical staff orders in an accurate and timely manner
• Ensures accurate processing of orders and charges from admission through hospitalization
• Ensure accurate maintenance of the patient's medical record and all unit records
• Assembles the medical record in the proper sequence checking that all forms are stamped
• Identifies outlier reports and forms and notes on audit tool for completion
• Participates in inventory ordering and the distribution of clerical supplies / patient forms and disposition of outdated forms
• Monitors discharge activities related to the billing process
