Responsibilities Work in a neuro-focused medical surgical unit within a hospital setting Night shifts with options for 36 or 48 hours per week (three 12-hour shifts : 18 : 45–07 : 15) Assigned to neuro and general medicine patient populations Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 6 Expect to work 5–6 weekend shifts per contract (approximately every other weekend) Travelers are required to float first within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed Uses Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medication, and SBAR for communication Unit orientation is provided for 24 hours Manager coordinates schedules Navy blue scrubs are required Care for neuro-focused and general medicine patients May be assigned to Storm or Hurricane Team and required to work during catastrophic events or natural disasters Floating may be required based on unit needs and traveler skill set Travel pairs are allowed but must work on different units Candidates with prior permanent or PRN employment at the health system must have a 12-month gap and require rehire approval No more than 7 days of time off (RTO) approved per contract and none allowed during orientation week Must work two of the three major holidays if scheduled First time travelers accepted Modules and orientation to be completed pre-start Local candidates (within 50 miles) are eligible at a lower pay rate Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required at start (can be pending for consideration) Minimum 2 years of medical surgical nursing experience required Current ACLS and BLS certifications required Must pass EKG testing prior to start Familiarity with Epic EMR preferred Teamwork and patient safety focus required References from the past 12 months preferred and required at start Fatigue policy prohibits working more than 5 days consecutively or 60 hours in a week Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-620606.
