Accessibility And Compliance Coordinator
The Accessibility And Compliance Coordinator is a full-time professional position reporting directly to the Director, Access UChicago Now (AUN) and indirectly to the Executive Director of Equal Opportunity and Access (EO&A). The Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting and advancing the day-to-day and strategic operations of AUN and EO&A. The Coordinator will manage and enhance initiatives related to ADA / 504 and accessibility, facilitate and implement reasonable accommodations, lead related disability support services, and contribute to promoting accessible working and learning environments. In addition, the Coordinator will partner in compliance activities related to equal opportunity programs and oversee progress on plans for protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities include facilitating the reasonable accommodation intake process for select faculty and other academic appointees, collaborating with the Director of AUN and Executive Director in developing and updating institutional policies, identifying opportunities for process improvement in accessibility services, monitoring and analyzing trends in accommodation requests, supporting the Director of AUN and Executive Director in designing and delivering internal resources and trainings on reasonable accommodations, campus accessibility and equal opportunity compliance, maintaining case management systems, advising campus stakeholders on current accessibility standards, regulations, and best practices, managing or co-coordinating compliance committee meetings, representing AUN and EO&A on specific working groups and committees, facilitating the coordination of the University's equal opportunity compliance programs, managing projects related to accessibility and EO&A compliance, coordinating department or clinic compliance, planning and executing internal and external audits and activities to support regulatory agency inspections, and performing other related work as needed.
Minimum qualifications include a college or university degree in a related field and 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in a related field, knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of progressive work experience in disability services, ADA / 504 compliance, human resources, higher education administration, or related field, managing accommodations or compliance cases, developing and / or delivering training sessions or workshops, excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail and highly organized, handling public contacts with courtesy and clarity, handling sensitive and confidential situations and information with discretion, maintaining a calm and courteous demeanor and working effectively in a busy environment, good problem-solving skills, using appropriate resources to seek solutions, following tasks through to completion, skill in working both independently and as a team member, taking initiative and assisting with organizing and completing projects with guidance, and proficiency with word processing applications and spreadsheets.
