Job Title : Field Service Technician

RL Controls, LLC (RLC) is an ISO-certified systems integrator supporting the mass transportation industry. Our primary focus is on system technologies that enable vehicle solutions for shuttle, bus, rail systems, and facilities.
Role Description
The Field Installation & Service Technician will execute installations and testing for simple to complex vehicle systems, including upgrading equipment (software, hardware, and telecommunications network components). Responsibilities include installing and terminating DC low-voltage power and signal wiring, as well as conduit work.
Responsibilities
- Completing hands-on installations, upgrades, and disassembly of vehicle systems.
- Performing system testing, integration, and troubleshooting as part of a project team.
- Conducting site surveys and attending site-specific meetings.
- Installing and commissioning wired and wireless low-voltage network solutions.
- Validating network functionality and documenting results.
- Adhering to OSHA, FRA, and RLC safety and PPE standards.
Qualifications
Experience : 2+ years of field service experience in the mass transit industry (entry to mid-level candidates will be considered).Education : Technical degree preferred; industry certifications are a plus.Skills & Competencies
Technical experience in engineering or field service within the mass transit industry.Ability to read, comprehend, and apply technical documentation, specifications, and schematics.Proficiency with hand and power tools, including calibrated tools and multimeters.Experience with wire termination, cabling, conduit work, and working around AC and DC high-voltage systems.Strong problem-solving, adaptability, and multi-tasking abilities.Excellent communication skills for completing reports and following written and verbal instructions.Physical requirements : lift up to 50 lbs; work at heights up to 25 feet; operate in confined spaces and on vehicles up to 16 feet high.Willingness to travel nationally for extended periods (valid driver's license required).Preferred Experience
Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, construction drawings, and schematics.Experience with field installation and testing of CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection systems.Experience with Axis or other IP camera technologies and Extreme Networks or similar wired / wireless network technologies.RL Controls Core Expectations
