HVAC Maintenance Technician
Viakorp Corporation is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Maintenance Technician to perform routine, scheduled, and preventive maintenance services on HVAC systems across client facilities. The technician will be responsible for daily operational checks, monthly system performance evaluations, and biannual deep inspections to ensure reliable, safe, and energy-efficient performance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Responsibilities
Daily Checks
- Ensure all thermostats are properly set and functioning correctly
- Verify airflow and operation of air handler units (AHUs)
- Inspect for signs of water accumulation, drip pan overflow, and condensation issues
Monthly Service Tasks
Evaluate overall HVAC system performance, including exposed ductwork inspectionsTest and calibrate thermostats; confirm setpoint accuracyReplace air filters in AHUs and clean mini-split system filtersInspect evaporator and condenser coils for dirt, corrosion, or debrisCheck refrigerant sight glasses and condenser fan performanceInspect electrical panels for loose wiring and test all safety switchesRecord and log system performance metrics : voltage, amperage, and temperature differentialsBiannual Service Tasks
Test zone control systems and verify damper functionalityCalibrate thermostats and confirm actuator operation for all zonesReplace rooftop unit (RTU) and inline filtersClean and flush all condensate pans and drain linesInspect blower fan assemblies for balance and wear; check motor voltageDocument all maintenance activities and flag issues requiring follow-up or corrective actionQualifications
High school diploma or GED requiredTechnical certification in HVAC3+ years of experience in HVAC maintenance or facility operationsEPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred)Familiarity with RTUs, AHUs, mini-splits, and VAV systemsAbility to use diagnostic tools and interpret electrical, temperature, and pressure readingsStrong documentation and communication skills
