Associate Director, College Aid
Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Office at the University of Chicago provides exceptional customer service to all students and families requesting assistance in financing their education. The Office of Financial Aid has a staff of 20 people, including counselors, and assistant directors.
The Associate Director is a key team member leading all technical and operational processes in the Financial Aid Office. The Associate Director serves on the departmental management team and will function as the main contact between the Office of College Financial Aid and campus stakeholders for all matters of technical operations. This position reports to the College Aid Director and supervises 1-2 College financial aid team members.
Responsibilities include : supporting Oracle Campus Solutions Financial Aid module for undergraduate packaging, planning and organizing financial aid cycles, supporting integration and developing new processes utilizing financial aid, Technolutions Slate, and student self-service, collaborating on the strategic usage of financial aid technology and operational initiatives, reviewing current business processes and making recommendations to improve workflow and effectiveness, leading development and implementation of IT strategy, testing new software installations and troubleshooting system-related problems, ensuring compliance with federal, state and University policies related to financial aid awarding, mass packaging and financial aid notifications throughout cycle, analyzing students financial need using institutional and federal methodology and packaging financial aid, meeting with prospective and current students and families to explain UChicago financial aid, analyzing the maximum aid needed to students yet remaining within government guidelines and overall budget limitations for aid distribution, communicating financial aid policies and programs to currently enrolled students with moderate guidance, and performing other related work as needed.
Minimum qualifications include a college or university degree in a related field and 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Preferred qualifications include a bachelors degree, advanced degree, a minimum of five years of progressive experience in financial aid, planning and implementing technology within a financial aid office, extensive customer service experience, extensive knowledge of Oracle Campus Solutions (Peoplesoft), advanced knowledge of financial aid related software applications, extensive knowledge of federal and state student financial aid program regulations, extensive knowledge of Technolutions Slate, exceptional analytical and organizational skills, effective problem solving skills, ability to handle several projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, work independently and as part of a team, maintain confidentiality, lead and coordinate the work of others, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
