We seek a caring, experienced preschool teacher who is passionate about early education and committed to modeling Christian values in the classroom. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a love for children and a desire to integrate faith and learning throughout the day.
Position Summary : Responsible for planning and implementing the daily routines of the preschool room, engaging preschoolers in developmental activities, supervising the assistants, and ensuring the safety of the preschoolers. The role also includes reviewing and approving timecards for assistants. The goal is to contribute to the child's healthy mental and emotional development to help them acclimate to the next level of education.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greets children and parents / guardians professionally and enthusiastically daily.
- Maintains a happy, sanitary, and relaxed preschool environment by following daily procedures and routines.
- Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills (listening, interaction with others, and use of play equipment).
- Works closely with the Director in a team teaching atmosphere and regularly shares pertinent information, suggestions, and ideas.
- Interacts with children through instructional methods, including play, music, arts and crafts, and physical activities.
- Develops and maintains a positive and confidential relationship with parents, including communication about the program and each child's progress.
- Prepares and executes nap time routine to create a relaxing preschool environment.
- Maintains written documentation of each child's daily activities via Procare for parents / guardians.
- Communicates with parents / guardians regarding the special needs of preschoolers.
- Attends parent / guardian, staff and conference meetings as scheduled.
- Participates in required training programs, conferences, courses, or other aspects of professional growth.
- Works alongside and delegates responsibilities among assistants to complete essential duties, procedures, and routines of the preschool room.
- Ensures assistants follow the work schedule and reviews / approves their timecards.
- Promotes and fosters each preschooler's positive self-esteem and individual development across physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
- Ensures all child care supplies are sufficient and reports needs to the Director.
- Reports injuries or suspicions of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate parties for follow-up.
- Adheres to all established policies, procedures, and code of ethics.
- Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with children, co-workers, and parents / guardians.
- Provides daily guidance and mentorship to assistant teachers and classroom aides.
- Ensures compliance with government licensing and regulatory requirements for the program.
- Develops and maintains relationships with licensing agencies and serves as the primary contact for audits or inspections.
- Leads recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts through outreach and family relationship-building strategies.
- Oversees staff scheduling to ensure adequate classroom coverage and efficient daily operations.
