Your Role
As an Occupational Therapist (OT), you will play a vital role in helping students thrive in their educational environment. You will provide essential services that enable students to benefit from their special education programs, focusing on :
- Classroom Engagement : Support students in classroom lessons and activities.
- Self-Care Skills : Enhance students' self-help and daily living skills.
- Social Skills : Foster social interactions and leisure activities.
- Vocational Skills : Prepare students for future work opportunities.
Your Responsibilities
In this impactful role, you will be accountable for :
Improving manipulative skills for self-care and academic tasks.Enhancing school transitions and participation through environmental accommodations.Maintaining functional postures to promote comfort and engagement.Facilitating safe mobility within the school environment.Promoting independence in feeding and daily activities.Increasing coordination and functional use of hands through targeted interventions.Collaborating with the school team to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans.Qualifications
To excel in this role, you will need :
Education
A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.National Board Certification for Occupational Therapy.A current and active Illinois license to practice, with ongoing continuing education requirements.Experience
Experience in evaluating students through observation, interviews, and assessments.Ability to develop and implement individualized OT intervention strategies.Skills and Abilities
Strong communication skills for collaborating with students, parents, and school staff.Knowledge of evidence-based practices for developing IEPs and Section 504 Plans.Commitment to professional growth and adherence to ethical standards.Experience in supervising occupational therapy assistants.Working Conditions
