The Center for Health Equity and Community Wellness (CHECW) seeks to eliminate racial and other inequities resulting in premature mortality. CHECW works to increase visibility of the harm caused by racist, socially unjust policy and to push towards redress for NYC communities. CHECW addresses inequity across community and healthcare systems in partnership with community, faith-based, and health care organizations. CHECW's work focuses on social determinants of health, including environmental and commercial determinants, and addresses both upstream and downstream factors to improve health and well being of New Yorkers. CHECW is comprised of the Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health, the Bureau of Brooklyn Neighborhood Health, the Bureau of Harlem Neighborhood Health, the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention, the Bureau of Health Equity Capacity Building, the Bureau of Equitable Health Systems and the Bureau of Finance, Administration and Services. The division's Deputy Commissioner also serves as the Agency's Chief Medical Officer. The Bureau of Equitable Health Systems unifies several units to strengthen the Department's ability to strategically partner with the NYC healthcare system.

The bureau will engage primary care providers, hospitals, and other healthcare systems to implement evidence-based strategies, leverage information to support planning and technical assistance for providers and payers; advance policy to close the racial equity gap for priority health outcomes; and surface opportunities where health care can influence and connect individuals to social support and address the whole person.

The Bureau of Equitable Health Systems seeks to hire a Data Quality Manager to join the Community Healthcare Support Team. The Data Quality Manager will manage data aspects of several highly visible grants and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure deliverables are met.

Duties

  • Manage and support processes related to the implementation of data acquisition workflows. Work closely with the Executive Director of Community Healthcare.
  • Support BEHS leadership to identify emerging technology that can be incorporated into quality improvement projects.
  • Shadow field team staff to external partner sites and assess data accuracy and workflow efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities and develop strategies to advance programmatic activities.
  • Keep relevant staff informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables, thereby ensuring smooth completion of work responsibilities.
  • Provide internal and external stakeholders with training on new protocols, technology and workflows aimed at improved management of chronic illness.
  • Provide technical assistance to external partners related to data for project deliverables.
  • Manage and assist in the implementation of special projects and requests made by the Executive Director of Community Healthcare Support.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible clerical / administrative experience requiring independent decision-making concerning program management or planning, allocation of resources and scheduling and assignment of work, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in supervising staff performing clerical / administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
  • An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and five years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in the first bullet, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in supervising staff performing clerical / administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in the first bullet, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in supervising staff performing clerical / administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
  • Education and / or experience equivalent to the above, with substitution rules for credits, as defined by the NYC civil service guidelines. All candidates must possess the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described above.
  • Residency : New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. The City may consider certain exceptions. Please discuss during the interview.
