IT & Broadband Systems Manager

Shape the future of broadband and utility technology in your community.

Are you a systems-savvy leader who thrives on solving complex problems and mentoring high-performing teams? We're seeking a forward-thinking IT & Broadband Systems Manager to lead the design, operation, and security of networks and systems that power exceptional electric and broadband services. This role blends strategic planning, hands-on engineering, and team leadership—all in support of a mission-driven cooperative serving its local members.

What You'll Do

Lead & Optimize Infrastructure

  • Build and maintain secure broadband and IT networks, including passive optical networks (PON), Headend / CO systems, and Customer Premise Equipment (CPE)
  • Monitor system performance and resolve outages with real-time analytics and proactive alerts
  • Drive business continuity efforts with tested backups, disaster recovery plans, and cybersecurity protocols
  • Oversee fiber optic design and routing (point-to-point, ring, diverse paths)

Guide Strategy & Innovation

  • Develop long-term infrastructure and cybersecurity roadmaps aligned to organizational goals
  • Evaluate new technologies and lead vendor sourcing and implementation
  • Manage capital budgets, contracts, and regulatory compliance (NERC CIP, FCC, RUS)

    • Build People & Partnerships

  • Lead and coach a collaborative IT team (Senior IT Specialist and Network Administrator)
  • Partner with leadership, internal teams, members, and vendors to deliver seamless services
  • Promote a culture rooted in safety, service, and adaptability

    • What You'll Bring

    Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required; bachelor's in Computer Information Systems or related field preferred
  • 4+ years in IT, network systems, or broadband operations

    • Technical Proficiency

  • Skilled in Layer-1 and Layer-2 networking, IP routing, VLANs, and fiber optic systems
  • Experienced in provisioning tools, monitoring platforms, and security protocols

    • Leadership & Communication

  • Proven ability to guide teams, manage projects, and translate complex concepts
  • Strong time management, critical thinking, and collaborative mindset

    • Additional Details

  • Valid driver's license required
  • Occasional travel and non-standard hours
  • Must meet DOT and internal screening standards
