JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Name : Safety Manager

Reports to : Vice President of Business Operations

Classification : Full time / Exempt

Job Summary :

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and environmental health programs to ensure a safe working environment at the envelope and printing manufacturing facility. This role is accountable for compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations, as well as promoting a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Lead facility safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientations and ongoing training sessions.
  • Maintain and track safety-related documentation, including OSHA logs, incident reports, and training records.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for safety-related issues and regulatory inspections.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership, supervisors, and employees to foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Lead the facility's Safety Committee and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • Monitor and report safety performance metrics; recommend and implement improvements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory changes.

    • Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing safety role, preferably in printing or paper converting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Certifications such as CSP, ASP, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Proven ability to conduct training and communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead safety initiatives and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management software.

    • Physical Requirements : (Example Below)

  • The position requires regular walking through the manufacturing facility, occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and spend extended periods on the production floor.
