Wipfli is partnering with our client, Eilertson Incorporated, a well-established, family-founded construction company based in Fond du Lac, WI, to recruit and select an Accounting Manager to lead their accounting operations. Founded in 1956, Eilertson Inc. specializes in underground utility work, substations, wind farms, and drilling services.
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and ensuring timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes. This position requires a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong attention to detail, and effective leadership to support the company’s financial stability and operational goals.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Manage year-end tax filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and other required documentation
- Prepare and submit quarterly payroll tax filings
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, including tracking, payments, and journal entries for new acquisitions
- Administer the company’s profit-sharing plan and ensure timely contribution payments
- Coordinate documentation for insurance audits, financial reviews, and tax return filings
- Maintain compliance by filing annual registrations, business licenses, and other required renewals
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns
- Supervise a team of one (1) accounts payable staff
- Collaborate with company owners, external accounting firms, and legal counsel on contract reviews and strategic financial matters
- Liaise with insurance providers to ensure appropriate coverage is maintained
- Work with banking partners to establish and manage loan agreements
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and implement new procedures to enhance workflow efficiency
- Stay current with changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- Monitor and manage cash flow to support operational and strategic needs
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy
- Maintain and optimize accounting software systems; lead upgrades or transitions as needed
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA or CMA certification preferredMinimum 5 years of relevant experienceMinimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experienceProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Office 365 applicationsStrong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standardsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHighly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivatedStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesBenefits Overview :
