• Position Summary

Provide legal advice, guidance and counseling to prospects and clients in the areas of estate planning, property transfer, Medicaid, real estate, long term care planning, and probate and estate and trust administration in accordance with established systems and procedures.

Draft estate planning and other documents under supervision of senior attorneys.

Draft entity formation documents, such as corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships. Perform direct estate planning, probate / trust administration.

• Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Draft and review documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney for finances and healthcare, HIPAA authorizations, and various other documents related to estate planning, estate and trust administration and long-term care planning.
• Develop thorough understanding of elder law issues, including Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security and related issues.
• Oversee and conduct estate signings and funding of estate plans.
• Gather relevant information via discussions with clients and utilize proper checklists to ensure proper preparation of documents and long term care plan.
• Ensure highest level of client satisfaction by responding within one business day to all client calls, questions or inquiries.
• Be proactive and ensure client issues are brought to the attention of managing attorney throughout the process and all client deliverables are timely.
• Supervise and review work of legal assistant and drafting attorney.
• Meet with clients, their family members and trustees to review estate planning binder with finalized documents. Reassure client of inclusion of discussed provisions, and answer questions.
• Arrange for and have paralegal / legal assistant to witness clients orally and publish their wills according to Kansas rules during signing.
• Prepare and implement 5 year and crisis, written plans for Medicaid Planning. Coordinate with Veterans Administration Pension benefits, if applicable.
• Research and keep up to date on legal matters pertaining to current estate planning, estate and trust administration and long term care planning.
• Track and enter all time worked daily.
• Actively participate and meet regularly with the team on present and future practices. Make recommendations for improved efficiencies.
• Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctorate degree from accredited school of law with license to practice law in the state of Kansas. Experience or strong interest in estate planning, estate and trust administration, and long-term care planning required. Prior experience or working background of elder law and Medicaid helpful.

• Working Conditions

Office environment. Approximately 10% travel overnight and / or out of town. Some weekends required.

Job Type : Full-time

Pay : $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
