Koniag Professional Services, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Content Strategy Lead to support KPS and our government customer in Washington, DC. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity. Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive content strategies across multiple channels for diverse audiences
- Develop and maintain information architecture for websites with 2,000+ content pieces, ensuring optimal organization and accessibility
- Create and enforce content governance policies, editorial guidelines, and style standards
- Lead content audits, gap analyses, and content mapping exercises to identify opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with UX designers to ensure content strategy aligns with user experience principles and objectives
- Manage the content lifecycle from planning and creation through publication, maintenance, and archiving
- Develop and execute social media strategies that effectively represent the brand voice and engage target audiences
- Analyze content performance metrics and user behavior data to inform strategic decisions and optimize content
- Coordinate with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Create and maintain content calendars and workflows to ensure timely delivery of high-quality content
- Develop personas and user journey maps to guide content creation and distribution efforts
- Lead or participate in stakeholder interviews, user research, and content testing activities
- Train and mentor content creators on best practices, editorial standards, and brand guidelines
- Collaborate with external partners to align content initiatives and messaging
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in content strategy

Demonstrated ability to represent tone and voice for a brand and uphold editorial standardsProven ability to coordinate medium to long-term content strategy through multiple channels to diverse audiencesStrong analytical skills with the ability to aggregate and act on data from multiple sourcesExcellent interpersonal skills with a track record of successful collaboration with external partnersClear and diplomatic oral and written communication abilitiesProficiency in content management systems (CMS) and digital asset management toolsKnowledge of SEO principles and best practicesUnderstanding of content accessibility guidelines and requirementsExperience with content strategy documentation (content models, taxonomies, workflows)Ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging contentProject management skills to coordinate multiple content initiatives simultaneouslyKnowledge of content governance frameworks and implementation approachesProficiency with analytics platforms and data visualization toolsAdaptability to changing priorities and requirementsAbility to obtain and maintain required security clearancesEducation
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university / college in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Information Design, or related fieldWork Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Minimum of five years of experience in content strategy or related rolesAt least two years of experience in high-level content organization and information architecture for a website with 2,000+ pieces of contentTwo years of experience in user experience designProfessional social media management experienceExperience working with human services or public health organizations, with preference for early childhood service delivery experienceDesired Skills and Competencies
Master's degree in a relevant fieldProficient in SpanishProject Management Professional (PMP) certificationCertified and experienced in Agile methodologiesExperience as staff in a Head Start program (5+ years)Certifications in content strategy, UX design, or related areasExperience with federal agencies and government communications requirementsKnowledge of early childhood development programs, policies, and communications needsExperience with multilingual content strategy and localizationFamiliarity with personalization and marketing automation technologiesBackground in change management and organizational communicationsExperience with video content strategy and productionKnowledge of Section 508 compliance and WCAG accessibility standardsExperience with content migration and re-platforming initiativesProficiency with design and prototyping tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.)Experience in conducting content-focused usability testingBackground in behavioral science or psychology as applied to communicationsEqual Employment Opportunity
