We are seeking a Property Accountant to join our dynamic team, primarily supporting ABODE Communities, Edgewater’s build to rent and multi-family platform. This role will be integral to the accounting and compliance functions for multiple real estate entities. You will work closely with development and asset management teams, as well as outsourced accounting partners, across a variety of projects. The position is on site in Raleigh, NC and reports directly to the Controller.
Responsibilities :
For ABODE Communities projects under development,
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including month-end close procedures, A / R and A / P processing and preparation of general journal entries
- Reconcile all accounts and produce monthly financial statements with supplementary reporting
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, monitor cash positions and anticipate future cash deficiencies
- Monitor and review monthly accruals, payables and receivables for accuracy and adjust / correct balances as needed
- Assist the development team with draw requests to various lenders and ownership groups
- Maintain vendor files and manage 1099 reporting
For ABODE Communities active projects,
Collaborate with the ABODE asset management team to monitor cash positions and anticipate future cash deficienciesReview monthly financial reporting and collaborate with outsourced accounting teams to ensure accuracyMaintain equity and fixed asset roll forwardsFor all ABODE Communities projects,
Act as main contact for all project auditsEnsure all taxes are reconciled and remitted timelyEnsure that all financial reporting is in accordance with Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP) or the Federal income-tax method of accounting, as required by ownership or lenderAssist with various treasury needs, including positive pay administrationAlong with the Controller, provide assistance to external CPA for tax preparation and planningFor other Edgewater Ventures projects,
Provide assistance to the Edgewater accounting team as needed for various tasks related to industrial and mixed-use assets, as well as management company entitiesRequirements :
Bachelor’s Degree in AccountingAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial real estate accounting preferredExperience with Yardi Voyager and / or QuickBooks is preferredThis is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing team within a fast-paced and growing firm.
