Heavy Civil Project Engineer (Louisville)

Overview :

We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil and utility construction projects. This role is ideal for someone who wants to gain hands-on experience with self-perform work in utilities, site development, paving, and infrastructure while working closely with project managers, superintendents, and field crews. The Project Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and quality across all phases of construction.

Key Responsibilities :

• Assist in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting for heavy civil, site, and utility projects.
• Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal field teams to maintain project timelines.
• Prepare RFIs, submittals, material take-offs, and other project documentation.
• Track quantities, production, and cost reports to support project controls and forecasting.
• Monitor field operations to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency are maintained.
• Support project managers and superintendents with day-to-day tasks, problem-solving, and client communications.
• Participate in meetings with clients, owners, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Ensure accurate closeout documentation including as-builts, O&M manuals, and punch list completion.
