Credentialing Coordinator

The position involves coordinating the credentialing program for the appointment of medical practitioners to the medical staff of a hospital or clinic and ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Essential job functions include evaluating credentialing documents, attending committee meetings, preparing meeting notices and agendas, conducting internal audits, monitoring data bank reports, guiding staff on credentialing policies, supervising staff, coordinating the credentialing application process, analyzing and making recommendations on processes and procedures, acting as a liaison between medical and nursing staff, supporting various committees, initiating procedures for protection of practitioners rights, reviewing department rules and regulations, maintaining a procedural manual, and coordinating the Continuing Medical Education training program.
Selection requirements include two years of recent, full-time experience in a Medical Staff Services Office or health care environment as a credentialing specialist or three years of recent, full-time experience performing medical staff credentialing functions. A valid Certified Professional Medical Services Management certificate or a valid Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist certificate may substitute for the required experience. All required licenses and certifications must be active and unrestricted. The physical class is light, which includes occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
