Job Summary

The Career and Talent Development department is currently seeking a Student Career Peer Coach to join their Career Development and Integrated Partnerships team of professionals. Duties to include :

Perform resume, cover letter, and CV critiques online and in person during designated Drop In program

Collect walk-in student and alumni numbers for data purposes weekly

Assist resources committee in making and updating office PowerPoint workshops such as Resume Writing, Salary Negotiation, and Career Readiness etc.

Provide basic career advice to students and alumni

Educate students on the Career & Talent Development Department services and encourage students to be active

Create and modify student and alumni accounts on Handshake platform

Assist Career Development & Management team in creating workshop calendars as needed

Assist in office programs such as Career Fairs, Commencement Fair and other career related events

Perform other office duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days.

Customer service knowledge

Ability to work in a team setting.

Basic level of Microsoft Word.

None to basic Microsoft Excel.

Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.

Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.

Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.

During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.

Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
