Director of Machining & Manufacturing (NX / 5-Axis)

We’re looking for a Director of Machining & Manufacturing to lead and scale a growing CNC team supporting engineering, fabrication, and assembly. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing, well-funded aerospace / defense startup and build a high-performing machining team from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, hire, and develop a team of 6–7 machinists.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in NX programming and 5-axis machining (Matsuura MX-520 PC4).
  • Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and assembly teams to deliver critical parts.
  • Drive best practices in regulated environments (DoD / Aerospace).
  • Oversee prototyping, low-volume, high-mix manufacturing.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven leadership experience building and managing machinist teams.
  • Strong programming ability in NX and / or deep 5-axis machining expertise.
  • Background in regulated industries (DoD, aerospace, AS9100 preferred).
  • Startup mindset — experience growing operations from scratch.
  • Passion for machining, defense, and innovation.

  • $200K – $250K base salary (DOE)
  • Equity + Bonus (total comp up to ~$350K)
