The University of Florida’s Human Resources Department seeks a collaborative, results-oriented instructional designer to join the Training and Organizational Development (T&OD) team. This position partners with UF units and the T&OD team to create learning materials and system support documentation for faculty and staff, supporting UF’s mission through ongoing employee development.
The T&OD team offers a diverse portfolio of programs, courses, certificates, and learning events and is committed to developing superior training on a wide variety of topics. The role requires a solid foundation in instructional design skills, the ability to quickly build courses and learning materials, strong written and verbal communication, and excellent organizational skills. A strong commitment to teamwork is essential.
A digital portfolio is required. Please include a link to your online instructional design portfolio. The portfolio should include samples of instructional design work and brief descriptions of each project outlining goals, your role, and outcomes.
Responsibilities Instructional Design : Conduct needs analyses to determine learning objectives and appropriate modalities; design engaging, ADA-compliant, and visually appealing learning materials for adult learners; develop materials that support software adoption and / or complex business processes; use a range of tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline & Rise, Captivate, Adobe Suite) to create materials; manage timelines to ensure learners build knowledge, skills, and abilities; evaluate training effectiveness and align outcomes with objectives.
Project Management : Manage multiple online and in-person courses, Zoom sessions, instructional guides, micro-learnings, and infographics with efficiency and attention to detail; work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment; stay organized and self-directed while handling simultaneous projects that align with T&OD and UFHR goals.
Communication : Interview subject matter experts, conduct research, and apply insights to develop course materials; work independently and collaboratively to develop materials and training plans; facilitate training classes for faculty and staff.
Qualifications Required : Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.
Preferred :
Strong foundation in instructional design principles and adult learning theory
Experience conducting needs analyses to determine effective learning modalities
Ability to create engaging, visually appealing, and ADA-compliant learning materials
Proficiency with e-learning development tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline & Rise, Captivate)
Multimedia production skills using Adobe Creative Suite
Familiarity with Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Experience designing training for software adoption and complex business processes
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to interview subject matter experts and synthesize information into effective content
Experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
High attention to detail and accuracy in instructional content creation
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Experience facilitating training sessions for adult learners
Commitment to continuous improvement and evaluating training effectiveness
Digital portfolio showcasing instructional design work (e-learning, microlearning, guides)
Additional Information This is a Time-Limited Position funded through Workday projects with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2027. The role may be extended if justified by business or project needs as UF completes the Workday implementation.
Salary range : $61,000 - $70,000. UF offers competitive benefits, retirement options, leave plans, and other perks.
