Southeast Nebraska Development District (SENDD) is seeking to hire a full-time Loan Officer / Economic Development Specialist. This position will be located at SENDD’s Lincoln Office, located at 7407 O St, Lincoln, NE 68510. About SENDD :
SENDD is a voluntary association of 16 counties and municipalities formed under the Interlocal -Cooperation Act to identify common problems, their solutions and to provide continuing support for efficient and effective government among its members. SENDD Membership includes the Counties (and their participating communities) of : Butler, Fillmore, Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Lancaster, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Polk, Richardson, Saline, Saunders, Seward, Thayer, and York. SENDD is governed by a 26-member Board of Directors that oversees contract approvals, policy, and membership services of the organization. The Executive Director manages the organization's day-to-day operations and staff and reports to the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities :
Primary Role - Loan Program Management :
Provide oversight and direction to local and federally-funded loan programs
Manage SENDD and SEND, Inc.’s commercial and workforce housing loan portfolios
Generate new loans by performing underwriting, packaging, and servicing
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and organizational lending regulations
Prepare required reports for funding agencies
Building and maintaining relationships with banks, resource partners, borrowers, and other stakeholders
Grant Writing & Program Administration :
Assist with the development, submission, and administration of grant applications for local, state, and federal programs.
Ensure compliance with grant regulations, reporting, and record-keeping.
Support the management of awarded grant-funded projects.
Community & Economic Development Support :
Provide technical assistance to member communities on business development, housing, and workforce initiatives.
Support local governments and organizations in identifying funding opportunities and leveraging resources.
Assist with strategic planning, community engagement, and economic development projects.
Outreach & Relationship Management :
Represent SENDD at regional, state, and local meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Build strong working relationships with SENDD members, state agencies, federal partners, and economic development organizations.
General SENDD Duties :
Contribute to team projects and organizational priorities as assigned.
Promote SENDD’s mission and services across the region.
Perform other duties to support SENDD’s mission as directed by the Executive Director.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, public administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience) preferred.
Experience in lending, community development, or economic development preferred.
Knowledge of loan underwriting, financial statements, and basic accounting principles.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and make sound recommendations.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects.
Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); database management experience a plus.
Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders including businesses, banks, nonprofits, and government officials.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the 16-county district.
