We're hiring a Field Service Mechanical Engineer to provide support for nuclear fuel handling equipment or outage critical cranes. The field service support will be conducted at remote operating nuclear power plants and at local service center operations, utilizing high technology service equipment in a manner reflecting Westinghouse's commitment to the highest levels of safety and quality.
The Field Service Mechanical Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining and supporting the equipment in the field. This position would have authority to change procedures, redline and approve design changes, continually improve processes, and provide technical guidance to technicians. They will be authorized to execute engineering-based decisions for installations and outage support. General duties and responsibilities include :
- Objectively participate in critique / lessons learned programs among Westinghouse, the utility, and suppliers to foster constructive problem solving.
- Possess excellent verbal and written English communication skills to effectively provide guidance, direction, and assistance.
- Display significant knowledge within the engineering discipline to perform complex design, analysis, and evaluations of technical products and services and prepare appropriate supporting documentation.
- Support the development of cost workbooks for service and equipment offers.
- Support Field Service outage activities.
- Communicate with internal groups, customers, and vendors to obtain necessary information to complete work assignments.
- Support manufacturing and field service during fabrication, assembly, and installation phases.
- Solve routine and complex technical problems.
- Conduct and lead effective design and design for manufacturability reviews.
- Identify and communicate areas for product / service improvements to management personnel.
- Identify and recommend improvements in processes on a continuing basis and assist in implementation.
- Perform work within established scope, budgetary and schedule requirements.
- Resolve Corrective Action issues as required and support process improvement efforts within department and company.
- Display strong leadership skills.
- Identify and assist in developing new business opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Who You Are :
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Master's degree preferred.5-10 years of discipline related engineering experience required, 10+ years of experience preferred. Principal engineering level preferred.Prior nuclear experience preferred.Physical Requirement :
This position is subject to the requirements of Westinghouse and customer security, unescorted access, and fitness for duty programs.Requires the ability to occasionally carry / lift up to 50 pounds.Individual must possess full range of motion i.e. ability to reach, climb, kneel, squat, grasp, bend forwards and backwards, sit, and stand for a minimum of 4 hours per day.Individual must be able to pass a Westinghouse physical which includes a spirometer for the ability to wear a respirator.Minimum Requirements (education, years of experience, certifications, etc.)
