Job Title : Senior Field Service Specialist

Reports To : Region Operations Manager or Field Service Supervisor Solutions

Responsibilities

  • Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
  • Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.
  • Lead tasks in Transformer Testing (Power factor, TTR, insulation resistance, SFRA, winding resistance, partial discharge, leakage reactance).
  • Lead Cable Testing (Insulation resistance, tan delta, hipot, TDR, partial discharge, cable thumper).
  • Lead Circuit Breaker Testing (Insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, breaker timing, SF6 gas analysis, CT testing, high current testing, secondary injection testing, vacuum bottle integrity testing).
  • Test both electrical-mechanical and solid-state relays.
  • Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Plan, participate in, and develop safety meetings and training.
  • Support management in the planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiar with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, while utilizing excellent judgment.
  • Doble DTAF and Power DB knowledge is preferred; training will be provided.
  • Demonstrated reliability in being on time for daily work assignments, meetings, training, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with on-time reporting of time and expenses, weekly status reports, and other documentation.
  • Ability to keep tools, test equipment, and vehicles clean and up to date with service and calibrations.
  • Must be willing to relocate within 60 miles of the hiring regional office.
  • Corporate business hours are Monday–Friday, 7 : 30am–4 : 30pm; additional hours outside of business hours may be required depending on scope of work.
  • Work near live electrical substations with safety precautions.
  • Ability to work overtime including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Ability to travel on overnight, multi-day, out-of-town projects.
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Education and Work Experience

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Electrical / Electronic Technology, or Military experience is preferred but not required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and commissioning.
  • Ability to achieve NETA level III or IV within 6 months of employment.
  • Project management experience and ability to support management in planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projects.
  • Other Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle check.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, as well as periodic, unannounced random testing.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle weight up to 26,000 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to obtain a company-paid TWIC card, OSHA 10 / 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and CPR training.
