Job Summary (Associate Director, Commercial Data Management within Data Enablement for Business Analysis)
The Associate Director (AD), Commercial Data Management (CDM) is accountable for strategically partnering with key functional areas to onboard and manage commercial data assets throughout the data lifecycle. CDMs will be data owners and provide strategic input and direction to business partners on all aspects of the data, from capturing and documenting metadata to developing data ingestion and onboarding requirements through retention and archiving. This role will also be accountable for providing input into the development of processes and tools that will aid in building and shaping the CDM capability. The AD CDM will closely collaborate with key stakeholders to understand their needs and optimize the manageability, flexibility, and utility of Otsuka's data assets.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction and synthesize the needs of key stakeholders into clear requirements and execution plans.
- Serve as a point of escalation for CDM activities and work closely with the Director, CDM and other DE roles to improve CDM processes.
- Own gathering metadata and contextual information to catalog new data sources.
- Collaborate with the DE Data Quality & Standards capability to apply quality principles and best practices to data assets.
- Stay current with industry data trends.
- Support an enterprise-wide CDM framework, focusing on modifications to policies, standards, guiding principles, metrics, tools, and data architecture.
- Act as a liaison between business, functional, and technology groups to ensure data-related requirements are defined, communicated, and considered in prioritization and planning.
- Define performance indicators and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data-related policies and standards for purchased data.
- Work with the Data Scouting lead roles to inform requirements for new data assets and contribute to contracting as necessary.
- Serve as a knowledge base and resource to project teams.
- Model and coach engagement best practices to enable thought partnership and collaboration; advance the Data Enablement partnership at Otsuka.
- Foster a culture that embraces the strategic use of data in decision making to achieve greater business outcomes.
- Balance innovation with discipline and structure; advocate value-add change and inspire others.
Qualifications
Required
Experience within the pharmaceutical industry in data operations / data management environments.Significant experience with commercial third-party data assets (e.g., Xponent Plantrak, DDD, HCOS, Claims Data, Specialty pharma, omnichannel data, Salesforce / Veeva).Strong working knowledge of SQL, data warehousing concepts, and dimensional / relational databases.Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and address day-to-day operational challenges.Ability to translate business concepts to technical terms and vice versa.Experience supporting change efforts and enabling results through influence and relationships.High personal and professional integrity and strong work ethics.Results orientation with the ability to drive operations to completion.Ability to manage adversity and challenging situations.Ability to develop cooperative and constructive working relationships.Aptitude to quickly assess and add value in new situations.Ability to co-create and work collaboratively with key stakeholders.Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to interpret and clearly communicate material developed collaboratively.Influencing and negotiation skills.Up to 10% travel as required by business needs.Education / Experience

The range represents typical pay for roles in the United States and may be adjusted based on experience, skills, and internal benchmarks.
