Overview
Production Engineer role at Toyota Boshoku America. Utilize the Toyota Production System and engineering skills to perform Production Engineering functions setup for Urethane processes within Tier 1 automotive manufacturing plants. Support every aspect of the Cannon Urethane Pour Line and collaborate with the Manufacturing Department to analyze line downtime and implement continuous improvements to reduce scrap and improve operational availability.
Responsibilities
- Develop, design, and implement kaizen activities for current and new launch activities with the Manufacturing, Maintenance and Kaizen Departments.
- Update and track the formulas used by the Pour Line.
- Assist the PC and Maintenance departments with routine checks of tanks, pumps, inventory of chemicals, etc. and resolve any identified problems.
- Purchase equipment and materials.
- Lead cost savings and kaizen activities.
- Assist in resolving maintenance issues.
- Work with construction personnel to obtain quotes and follow up on project status.
Minimum Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.Greater than 4 years of relevant experience required. Automotive manufacturing engineering experience preferred.Professional Skills and Capabilities
Ability to order and track equipment and material for the manufacturing facilities.Working knowledge of tool and equipment design, automation, robotics, and / or manufacturing processes.Basic understanding and working knowledge of industrial equipment and manufacturing processes relating to urethane.Ability to troubleshoot and track equipment issues to perform root cause analysis and correct issues with equipment suppliers.Basic knowledge of cost structures and / or PFMEA development is preferable.Ability to read component, assembly and equipment drawings and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).Effective time management, teamwork, self-directed work style, and strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills.Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports; capable of working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.Familiar with root cause analysis and problem solving methods; active listener with effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to multitask, manage diversity, and facilitate problem solving and resolution; work well with all levels inside and outside the organization.Must be able to work flexible hours to support production on all shifts during new product launch.Ability to collect and organize data for future programs and report information to the appropriate people in a timely manner.Language Skills
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex information in verbal and written English. Japanese, Spanish, and / or Portuguese would be helpful.Computer / Software
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applications (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Outlook, Internet).Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and 3D Modeling software. CATIA experience is preferred. PLC experience is a plus. Experience with MS Access is preferred.Work Environment / Physical Demands
Office : Open Office environment with moderate noise in manufacturing settings. Plant : Standard automotive plant environment with PPE as required. Travel up to 25% may be required.Physical Demands : Ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods; ability to inspect, adjust, and operate equipment; may be required to walk, stand, climb, stoop, or bend; may lift up to 30-50 pounds occasionally.Disclaimer
