Key Responsibilities :
- Accurately perform data entry into project and estimating systems.
- Maintain both digital and physical filing systems for project documentation.
- Conduct technical research on steel products, materials, and fabrication methods.
- Support customer and vendor communications : quote requests, status follow-up, and issue resolution.
- Assist in project coordination—including tracking progress, schedule updates, and document management.
- Prepare and format internal and external documentation, reports, or presentations.
- Provide general administrative support as directed by department leads.
Fabrication-Specific Responsibilities :
Familiarize with and assist in researching steel fabrication processes, such as :Cutting methods : saw, laser, plasma, water-jet, oxy-fuel.
Shaping techniques : bending, rolling, and press brake forming.Joining methods : welding (MIG, TIG, stick), bolting, riveting.Finishing / coating : galvanizing, painting, powder coating, surface treatments.Understand stages like machining (drilling, milling, grinding), assembly, and quality inspection in fabrication workflows.Assist with understanding relevant fabrication standards and quality control practices, such as AISC guidelines.Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.Experience in administrative, estimating, engineering support, or fabrication support roles is a plus.Computer-savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); CAD and ECi Job Boss familiarity is a bonus.Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.Basic knowledge or willingness to learn steel fabrication & manufacturing processes.Knowledge in fabrication terminology (e.g., cutting, welding, finishing, machining) is advantageous.Preferred (But Not Required) :
Prior experience or exposure to fabrication or manufacturing environments.Some understanding of CAD or drafting software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Tekla, etc.)Understanding of quality systems and fabrication standards (e.g., AISC certifications).Working Conditions :
Office-based, with occasional coordination with shop or fabrication floor personnel.Standard business hours, with potential flexibility based on project timelines.
