WHAT YOU’LL DO
You, as the cost accountant, are a quick learner with high levels of attention to detail, collaboration, teamwork, and flexibility. You have a critical technical focus, which helps you to validate product structures and manufacturing steps, create estimates, prepare cost change analyses, and communicate the potential or realized financial impact.
- Assist in maintaining the standard cost system including, but not limited to, performing various cost rolls and validating accuracy; auditing product structures, manufacturing methods, costs, and variances for accuracy; and analyzing the effects of cost changes on materials and work center updates
- Collaborate with internal departments to meet financial product and project goals
- Assist product development team by analyzing engineering changes in product design, materials, and manufacturing methods; providing cost estimates and financial impact analyses
- Plan and schedule assigned activities to meet deadlines and due dates
- Adhere to IFRS and internal control guidelines
- Support monthly and year-end close processes
- Perform a variety of clerical and technical duties as allowed, such as assisting in the automation of office functions, supporting physical inventory preparations and activities, supporting the surcharge database, and verifying cost savings
- Cross-training with the accounting team
- Recommend improvements in internal cost accounting procedures and controls
- Other duties as required
YOUR EXPERIENCES & SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financeMinimum of one (1) to three (3) years of manufacturing experience or equivalentCMA certification preferredKnowledge or experience in new product development and / or cost estimating is a plusExperience using Microsoft Office applications is required, must be strong in ExcelKnowledge of sound accounting principles, their laws, and internal controlsStrong work ethic, self-management, research, analytical and organizational skillsAbility to manage competing priorities with flexibility to effectively adapt to changing conditions and job assignmentsEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to challenge the status quo professionally and respectfully within the organizationExperience with ERP systemsBENEFITS
