Overview
EthosEnergy is seeking an HSE Manager for Crockett Cogeneration (CCG), located in Crockett, CA. Reporting to the Facility Manager, this position leads health, safety, and environmental compliance programs to ensure operational excellence at CCG by focusing on disciplined process execution, systems, and procedures. The role ensures compliance with local, state, regional, and federal regulations, as well as internal policies, processes, and procedures. A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualifications with specialization in engineering or environmental science is required, along with a minimum of 5 years' experience developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental policies in an industrial setting. Management of Title V and state-issued air permits is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Conduct annual reviews of HSE procedures and recommend improvements.
- Lead development and implementation of annual HSE plans, goals, and strategies for improving safety and environmental performance.
- Manage environmental-related regulatory filings, inspections, reports and permit work (Title V, Potable Water Permit, SWPPP, SPCC, Hazardous and Universal Wastes).
- Conduct, manage, and track environmental and safety training.
- Conduct periodic HSE audits and prepare audit reports.
- Implement management systems and programs to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with company policy, processes, and procedures.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure HSE compliance and continuous improvement.
- Develop, monitor, assess, and communicate HSE risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee facility HSE training programs.
- Develop, review, update, and train employees on spill prevention, risk management, pollution prevention, and emergency response plans, as well as permit applications and limits.
- Lead HSE incident investigations, ensuring root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions are implemented and shared internally and externally with HSE and fleet groups.
- Represent the facility to strengthen HSE partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Maintain professional affiliations to stay current with new regulations and best practices.
- Lead, communicate, negotiate, and resolve compliance issues with regulatory agencies regarding environmental reporting, deviations, and notices of non-compliance.
- Manage departmental budgets and ensure value-driven resource planning.
- Collaborate with other departments to manage HSE vendor and contractor performance for facility contracts and services.
Required Skills / Knowledge
Strong communication and a hands-on approach.Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, CERCLA) plus project management, computer and communication skills.Ability to handle complex HSE situations and issues.Self-starter with initiative and proven ability to lead and execute specialized HSE programs.Adherence to EthosEnergy corporate environmental policies and directives.Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental policies in an industrial setting.Experience with Title V and state-air permits management and reporting is a plus.Power generation experience with emphasis on environmental programs is preferred.Strong communication and hands-on approach.Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualifications, preferably in engineering or environmental science.Regulatory knowledge in health, safety, and environmental areas.Knowledge of audit processes and procedures.Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop and lift up to 50 pounds.Occasional extended hours and varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, to support plant operations.Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.Occasional travel required.What We Offer
