Elemental Enzymes is looking for an Environmental, Safety, and Health (EHS) Program Lead. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, all hands-on deck environment, demonstrates flexibility, takes initiative, exercises sound judgment, and excels at time management. They must also be comfortable taking on additional projects and responsibilities as needed to meet goals and deliverables.

As the EHS Program Lead they will provide oversight and guidance for the companys EHS program, goals, and objectives. The EHS Program Lead champions environmental, health, and safety awareness through collaboration, education, and leadership to foster a safety-first culture. The successful candidate will join a team that is passionate about creating sustainable, biochemical-based solutions to agricultural challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluates environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies, while identifying operational gaps, reviewing industry trends, and implementing best practices to drive a proactive and compliant EHS approach. Act as the companys EHS Subject Matter Expert (SME) to advise on environmental, safety, and compliance issues across various policies, projects, and operations.
• Outline the companys emergency response plans and collaborate with cross-functional teams on implementation.
• Define safety training for employees on policies, regulations and procedures. Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations and procedures. Track compliance with training completion in collaboration with Human Resources.
• Facilitate and lead safety inspections, internal audits, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), risk assessments, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSR), and similar activities.
• Partner with cross-functional teams and SME, such as Engineering, Facilities, and R&D to review current processes and suggest improvements through the Safety Council and Committee.
• Support contractor and vendor safety compliance in collaboration with Facilities Management, Operations, Engineering and Manufacturing. Ensures onboarding, access protocols and job hazard analyses are in place for third-party work.
• Lead investigation of accidents and near misses, in collaboration with Human Resources and operational leads, to identify root cause and suggest Corrective Actions / Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other sustainability metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of the EH&S program in a quantifiable manner. Maintain a standardized record keeping system for the EH&S program.
• Work cooperatively with federal, state and local agencies to ensure company compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Act as the companys primary representative during inspections and for inquiries, permits, and requests.
• Oversee and collaborate with department leads for the waste management program (vendor coordination, documentation, recordkeeping, etc.). Implement sustainability initiatives and environmental reporting.
