Main Duties & Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
Support quality for current and future manufacturing requirements and determinethe most effective methods to improve productivity through the management ofpeople and technology.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilitiesto perform the essential functions. Quality Engineer I personnel shall bequalified to perform the following duties with only periodic supervisionoversight or review :
Ensure that all contractual and regulatory quality requirements are defined andcommunicated on assigned programs.
Support all departments to ensure control of both in-process quality and finalquality of product.
Provide customer interface on quality issues and problem resolution.
Collaborate with sales, purchasing, production, bidding, and contractmanagement to establish quality procedures to meet customer requirements.
Interface with vendors to correct problems dealing with purchased materials andprocesses.
Provide manufacturing engineering support including root cause analysis,corrective and preventive actions to resolve problems in product manufacture.
Support the SPC program and perform statistical analysis of the data to ensureprocess stability.
Perform other assignments as required.
Equipment / Process Responsibilities : Ensures work area, property, tools, andmeasuring instruments used are properly cleaned and maintained daily.
Work with Others : Accurate and thorough communication is mandatory to thesuccess of Monogram, and Quality Engineering personnel must use good writtenand verbal communication to ensure team members, including in otherdepartments, are notified of any problems or concerns regarding quality of workreceived or time flow of work in progress as it affects production schedules.Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, teambuilding and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity,quality, etc. of operations in the department. Able to direct and organize workof other Inspection personnel they are assigned to lead, as well as train otheremployees in the inspection methods, operations and procedures they arequalified to perform, as required.
Safety Responsibilities : Adherence to Company safety rules is required.Protective equipment and clothing shall be worn as appropriate to the task athand and per the dress code policy and safety rules.
Initiative and Ingenuity : Requires initiative in solving problems associatedwith the procurement, manufacturing, inspection, and testing of Monogramproducts. Makes suggestions for improving the efficiency of workflowoperations. Takes on or reports for additional work as current tasks arecompleted. Performs other work-related tasks as deemed necessary by Companyneeds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Environmental Surroundings : Work is in a machine shop laboratory environmentwhere noise, temperature fluctuations, the repetitive nature of the job, etc.are less desirable than in a typical office environment.
Unavoidable Hazards : Possible hazards related to cuts, bruises, finger and handinjuries, bums, chemical reactions and muscle strains. Exposure to movingmechanical parts, metalworking fluids, chemicals, heating elements and airborneparticles. Protective equipment and clothing appropriate to the task at hand isrequired.
EFFORT
Physical : Able to lift up to 25 pounds. Required to adjust requisite equipmentto set-up specifications. Hand and finger manipulation in turningtools / valves / handles or operating knobs / cranks / buttons etc. as well as usingprecision measuring instruments. Able to reach, bend and stretch. Most jobassignments require continuous standing and / or sitting for periods exceeding 15minutes at a time.
Mental : Work at times is highly repetitive and monotonous. However, set-ups mayrequire basic knowledge of machine shop theory and familiarity with laboratorytest procedures. Set-ups or test parameters may require some improvisation andingenuity. Reasoning ability required to interpret blueprints and documentationof a technical nature. Must be able to draw valid conclusions from a variety ofabstract and concrete variables. Required to organize workflow to bestefficiency under periodic supervision or review.
Visual : Close attention to detail with moderate eye concentration for extendedperiods of time. Able to read precision instruments and gauges. Requires closeand distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, focus adjustment anddepth perception.
This role is required to be on-site 5days at theCommerce, CA location.
Qualifications
EDUCATION / TRAINING
Bachelor's degree (BSME, BSIE, BSQA) from an accredited school
ASQ CQE is preferred
Proficient in technical writing, good documentation skills; attention to detailis critical
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings required
Demonstrated analytical ability including planning, resolving problemseffectively, and establishing priorities.
Ability to perform Statistical Analysis.
Understanding of DOE, 6-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing desired.
Intermediate level of computer skill in email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Microsoft Project, and MRP / ERP.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and project company image toattract business.
EXPERIENCE
1-2 years' experience as a Quality Engineer
5+ years' experience in Aerospace Inspection and / or Quality Administrationfunctions preferred.
Prior experience with ISO and AS environments.
Compensation
In compliance with all states and cities requiringtransparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $80,000 -$95,000.
Compensation can vary depending on several factors,including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, andgeographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives likeequity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.Further details will be provided by our recruiting team during the interviewprocess.
