Job Summary :
The Qualified Person ("QP") is responsible for maintaining and repairing passenger rail cars and locomotives in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. Working under the supervision of the Passenger Rail Mechanic (Qualified Maintenance Person, or "QMP"), the QP also performs necessary cleaning duties on passenger rail cars according to train schedules. The role requires strict adherence to corporate policies, health and safety protocols, and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
Troubleshoot and repair various systems on passenger cars, including toilet systems, air conditioning, doors, panels, lights, electrical systems, and brake systems.
Complete all necessary regulatory, client, and required paperwork.
Perform electrical tests, and handle tasks such as disassembling, repairing, modifying, and reassembling batteries and electrical components on locomotives.
Provide Blue signal protection and manage the setup and removal of Blue flags / lights.
Apply and remove 480V ground power cables as needed.
Perform cleaning tasks on passenger rail cars and locomotives according to schedule.
Communicate findings from inspections to the Supervisor in both written and verbal formats.
Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate changing train schedules.
Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Wear and use required protective equipment consistently while on the job.
Take personal responsibility for safety on the job.
Perform additional duties as assigned, including tasks such as watering the cars, pumping septic, and maintaining cleanliness in assigned areas.
Clean and polish lighting fixtures, floors, seats, surfaces, and trim in passenger cars.
Clean restrooms and replenish bathroom supplies.
Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
Dust furniture and equipment, wash windows, door panels, and sills, polish metalwork, and replace light bulbs.
Empty wastebaskets, clean ashtrays, and transport trash to disposal areas.
Follow conduct guidelines as required.
Keep areas around dumpsters clean and secure.
Notify the supervisor of any faulty equipment.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent skills in reading, writing, and reasoning) is required.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Positive work history and personnel record.
Valid driver's license is required.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Successful completion of a pre-employment screening process.
Working Conditions :
Industrial and steel toe boots or composite are required
Schedule : 10 : 00am to 6 : 30pm
