Overview
Position : Field Service Engineer at Mevion Medical Systems. Reporting to a Field Service Manager, the Field Service Engineer maintains technical responsibility over the Mevion Medical Systems Proton Therapy System (PTS). The role involves learning and operating the PTS for various customer needs and interacting with customers' professional and technical staff to resolve operational issues with Mevion products at customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Operate Proton Therapy System, including troubleshooting and post-service testing.
- Provide highly visible customer support through on-site operation, corrective and preventive maintenance of proton therapy equipment and ancillary devices.
- Clearly communicate the status of the system to the customer and to Mevion employees.
- Work on other related clinical systems at the customer site, including motion control systems, CT scanners, X-ray and radiological devices, and robotic manipulators.
- Ensure PT devices perform according to specification; monitor daily treatments and system performance; identify required corrections or improvements; document all complaints and key performance indicators.
- Maintain equipment / systems according to the maintenance schedule and ensure proper compliance / quality / technical performance / customer satisfaction.
- Troubleshoot PTS equipment including electrical, mechanical, and software problems; repair equipment / systems as needed.
- Document interventions with appropriate detail in accordance with facility, QA / RA and FDA regulations.
- Meet key performance indicators such as throughput, customer satisfaction, and uptime.
- Maintain professional knowledge and safety consciousness according to Mevion guidelines.
- Maintain a clean working environment and adhere to safety and regulatory rules.
- Maintain calibrated equipment and tooling according to specifications; manage on-site inventory and other part management duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Service Management.
Education, Training, and Experience
Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, or related field preferred; or 4-6+ years of technical experience in the Military or equivalent (e.g., Electronics technicians, mechanics).Experience with radiation therapy equipment is a plus.Electronic / electrical and mechanical ability; experience with computer interfaces, instrumentation, and control systems.Preferred experience with proton systems; strong interest in new technology and continuous learning.Sound computer usage and debugging skills; knowledge of networks and networking techniques; solid understanding of imaging systems.Experience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM and productivity software; experience with troubleshooting and data analysis techniques is required.Medical Physics experience and experience with dosimetry hardware & software are a plus.Familiarity and Extra Qualifications
Cooling systems, cryogenics, vacuum systems, PLCs, regulation loops, drivers, sensors, electric motors, high / low voltage equipment.Mechanical system repair and operation of large systems.Learning Targets (within the first six months)
Learn operating principles and service techniques for subsystems of MEVION equipment.Become proficient in all software, control system elements and user interfaces of MEVION systems.Understand electrical, vacuum, and water-cooling systems of MEVION equipment and hospital infrastructure.Desired Characteristics
