Position Summary
The role leads the front-end conceptual design process, including analysis of customer data and operations, developing and integrating multiple technologies. Responsibilities include analyzing large data files, building project-specific databases, and developing presentation materials to summarize design requirements. Works with Solution Sales and Applications Engineers to define design requirements for mid-scale automated projects and presents analyses and solutions to customers.
Responsibilities
- Conceptually develop block-level designs and end-to-end material handling solutions integrating multiple technologies (e.g., sortation conveyors, automated storage and retrieval systems, robotics, voice and light picking systems, and supporting structures).
- Perform data collection and analysis to define design criteria; experience with SQL for organizing, shaping, and analyzing large data files.
- Collaborate with Applications Engineering, Sales, and Customers to define system requirements and specifications.
- Identify applicable new technologies and work with vendors to develop complex turnkey subsystems (e.g., unit sorters, automated storage and retrieval systems).
- Develop labor requirements for proposed solutions using methods such as time studies, MOST, and MTM.
- Use economic analysis tools to determine return on investment for concepts.
- Contribute to proposal documents, design reports, bid specifications, and operation descriptions.
- Travel up to 20% of the time.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Analytics / Statistics, or related field, or equivalent experience.Minimum 3 years of experience in the material handling industry.Minimum 2 years of experience in analytics, statistics, or simulation.Knowledge of material handling technologies, controls and software, and related equipment.Knowledge of process improvement, mathematical modeling, and fundamentals of systems engineering, analysis, and design.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, SQL, and knowledge of Microsoft Power BI.Knowledge of Engineered Time and Motion Systems (e.g., MOST and MTM).Ability to multi-task, maintain attention to detail, and meet deadlines; adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Employment Details
