Overview
Project Technical Writer – Weir Minerals, St. Louis, MO (onsite).
Purpose of Role : The Project Technical Writer is responsible for creating and updating technical documents, service manuals, and technical bulletins for all products. This role also manages submittal tracking, certification collection, and shop test result documentation. Acting as a key liaison, the specialist coordinates technical documentation efforts between Project Engineering, suppliers, and both internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities
- Technical Document Development : Responsible for creating and maintaining technical documents such as service manuals, technical bulletins, and Inspection and Test Plans. This includes ensuring all documents are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with customer specifications, while incorporating input from Engineering and Sales teams.
- Customer and Project Support : Serves as a key point of contact for resolving document-related and technical issues with customers and suppliers. This includes revising and resubmitting documents based on customer feedback, addressing document questions during customer visits, and preparing exception documentation when needed.
- Document Control and Tracking : Manages the tracking and status of all document submittals, ensuring timely follow-ups and identifying any missing or unreturned documents. Maintains organized document control systems, including libraries of current and archived manuals, bulletins, and job files.
- Cross-Department Collaboration : Works closely with Sales, Engineering, and Assembly teams to compile accurate data submittal packages. Supports the Sales Engineers during the quote stage by reviewing customer documentation requirements and ensuring alignment with project needs.
- AutoCAD and Publishing Tools Utilization : Uses AutoCAD software to create or modify technical drawings and applies desktop publishing tools to produce professional-quality submittal documents. Ensures all documentation meets formatting standards and is ready for customer presentation.

Job Knowledge, Education and Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or a related technical discipline is required, along with preferred experience in a manufacturing environment. At least some hands-on experience with AutoCAD is required.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CAD software, Adobe Professional, and general office equipment. Familiarity with project management tools and internet research is also important.Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to interact with internal teams and customers. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.Able to interpret technical instructions, solve problems, and apply mathematical concepts such as geometry and trigonometry.
