Chief Of Staff
Seeking a strategic, highly organized, and mission-driven Chief Of Staff to lead operations across both her District Office and Albany legislative office. This full-time leadership role requires strong supervisory experience, a deep understanding of New York government, and a passion for public service and community empowerment.
The Chief Of Staff will serve as the Assemblywoman's principal advisor and operational lead, responsible for managing staff, coordinating legislative and district initiatives, and ensuring the office runs efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities :
- Strategic Leadership & Office Oversight
- Manage overall office operations and cross-functional initiatives
- Implement protocols and procedures to ensure efficient work product
- Delegate responsibilities and guide staff
- Recommend staffing decisions and oversee day-to-day operations
- Manage staff schedules, time sheets, and evening / weekend work cycles
- Build strong internal relationships to improve responsiveness
- Set strategic priorities with the Assemblywoman and track success metrics
- Act as gatekeeper for the Assemblywoman's time and engagements
- Monitor organizational culture, staff well-being, and project statuses
Communications & Public Engagement
Draft press releases, media quotes, and official statementsCreate and manage newsletters, flyers, and public-facing materialsDevelop and execute social media strategiesImprove internal communications across the teamRepresent the Assemblywoman at meetings and eventsShare top-line notes and updates with staffLegislative & Policy Support
Liaise with city / state agencies, elected officials, and advocacy groupsTrack legislation and policy developmentsCurate issue-focused programs, town halls, and commemorative eventsIdentify and address key community issuesEnsure the Assemblywoman is briefed and prepared for all engagementsCommunity & Constituent Relations
Serve as a point of contact for civic associations, schools, and community boardsProvide updates between the office and external organizationsConduct outreach to maximize program attendancePartner with community organizations to advance office prioritiesResolve district issues in collaboration with city agenciesProgram Management & Evaluation
Support staff in implementing initiatives and managing programsDefine and track success metrics (e.g., event attendance, legislation passed)Demonstrate innovative problem-solving and flag agency challengesAdditional Duties :
Distribute literature and materials at eventsPerform other functions as directed by the AssemblywomanMinimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or policy experience preferredMinimum 35 years of supervisory or management experienceStrong understanding of NYC / NYS government operationsExperience writing press releases, quotes, and newslettersProficiency in social media strategy and flyer creationExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work evenings and weekends as neededValid driver's license and reliable transportation requiredIdeal Candidate Traits :
